    Written on Thursday, 27 September 2012 20:14

The Skyline Terrace Suite at MGM Grand Las Vegas after the Grand Renovation

MGM Grand, Las Vegas’ ultimate entertainment destination, announced today the completion of its $160 million room and suite remodel in the hotel’s main tower, marking a major milestone in the resort’s “Grand Renovation.”

The remodel, which began in October 2011, includes 3,570 Grand King and Queen guest rooms and 642 suites of varying types including the stunning Skyline Terrace and Skyline Marquee Suites.

    Grand Guest Rooms
Created by the talented team at MGM Resorts International Design, the remodeled Grand King and Grand Queen guest rooms showcase a stylish combination of interior finishes and accents, creating a modern sensibility with an inviting ambiance.

Warm earth tones throughout each room set the stage for a relaxing environment, with splashes of vibrant colors carefully integrated into plush fabrics, striking artwork and playful carpet patterns. The Grand King rooms feature a tangerine and bronze palette while the Grand Queen rooms incorporate fuchsia, platinum and charcoal to create an inspired color expression.

Floor-to-ceiling headboard walls, accented by patterned fabric blocks above each bed, are flanked by mirrors on both sides, creating a dramatic visual as soon as guests enter the room.

Providing a streamlined focal point within each room, the dresser features spacious storage as well as a fully stocked mini-bar and media connectivity hub. Located above this centerpiece is a flat-screen HD television, openly displayed and visible throughout the room.

For guests who come to play but also need to work, the new rooms feature a spacious desk with ergonomic seating and task lighting. For those moments of relaxation, either two plush armchairs or a sofa is located adjacent to the window, to welcome in natural light by day and view the bright city lights by night.

New energy-efficient lighting and lamps are carefully positioned throughout creating a residential feel with convenient, functional details including an electrical outlet at each base for easy bedside and tableside recharging.

    Suite Redesign
For guests seeking additional space for entertaining and relaxing, a variety of newly redesigned one and two-bedroom suites are available, several of which include expansive terraces with sweeping views of the famed Las Vegas Strip.

While the furnishings are similar in form and function to the Grand guest rooms, the remodeled Tower Spa Suites and Executive Suites feature a distinct color palette with rich hues ranging from a royal plum to mink, taupe and cream.

The Executive One-Bedroom Suite showcases a dynamic palette of red and azure blue to create an element of energy and surprise. As the living and entertainment space expands, so do the amenities. Multiple seating and dining areas, large flat-screen televisions and a spacious master bedroom create a luxurious environment.

The new designs in the one-bedroom City View and Penthouse City View Suites include a variety of warm textures and fabrics, blending a combination of coffee brown, amber, cornflower blue and metallic neutral colors.

The two-bedroom Skyline Marquee Suite is an end unit with 180-degree panoramic views of The Strip.  Designed with larger groups in mind, many of the Skyline Marquee Suites feature a great room with a billiard table, media/living area and a large table for games or dining, meant to create a lively atmosphere. Each end of the great room leads to a master suite, creating a natural separation between the two relaxation zones and capitalizing on privacy for each.

A unique find in Las Vegas, the two-story Skyline Terrace Suites feature a spacious outdoor balcony, where guests can relax and watch TV from their cozy sectional sofa or host a small gathering, all while overlooking the magnificent lights of Las Vegas. Conveying the sense of a residential penthouse, the newly designed Skyline Terrace Suites feature modern and elegant furnishings, with a decidedly urban flair.

    Sustainable Features
In keeping with MGM Grand’s commitment to sustainability, the newly remodeled rooms and suites incorporate environmentally responsible elements including LED lighting; improved thermostats and solar shades to better manage temperature and guest comfort; upgraded faucets and showers; and bath amenities that are 100 percent biodegradable.

    STAY WELL Collection
MGM Grand also recently announced the STAY WELL collection featuring 42 rooms and suites designed for guests looking to take their wellness lifestyle “on the road” when  traveling. Each room will include more than a dozen features designed to enhance and improve the hotel experience from wake-up light therapy that reverses jetlag to shower water infused with Vitamin C to promote healthy hair and skin. The rooms are available for reservation now and will be ready for guests in late October.

    Hakkasan
MGM Grand’s evolution continues into 2013 with the highly anticipated opening of Hakkasan Las Vegas Restaurant and Nightclub, an upscale dining experience combined with multiple nightlife components from Angel Management Group, one of Las Vegas’ preeminent nightclub operators. Located where the iconic Studio 54 stood for 14 years, the venue will deliver an innovative concept evolving beyond Hakkasan’s original restaurant model, incorporating the best of dining and nightlife to create an unimaginable experience that will revolutionize the Las Vegas market. Hakkasan is scheduled to open spring 2013.

  • The Quad Resort & Casino Replacing Imperial Palace
    Written on Monday, 17 September 2012 17:30

    Quad Resort & Casino
How about that outdoor patio area at the Quad Resort & Casino Las Vegas?

Caesars Entertainment revealed plans today to re-name the company’s center-Strip resort currently known as Imperial Palace to The Quad Resort & Casino. Although guests will begin to see the brand transformation on property as early as November, the official conversion will be completed by Dec. 21, 2012 with renovation plans scheduled for finish by late 2013.

Interior and exterior renovations to the property are already under way. The renovations are scheduled to be completed in phases and will bring improvements to the exterior façade, porte cochere, front desk, bell desk, hotel lobby, casino floor, retail promenade and dining levels.

“As we renovate and modernize the property, it was only appropriate that we also update the name,” said Rick Mazer, the resort’s president. “This property has always been known as a hub of social activity, where anyone can come relax and have a good time. As we update our offerings we want to further enhance that feeling of fun and connectivity. We think the name, The Quad, really embodies those sentiments.”

In addition to revealing plans for renovation, the resort is also unveiling a new brand look and feel to accompany the name. With its central location on the Las Vegas Strip, The Quad Resort & Casino is literally in the middle of the action and a hub of activity for guests who share an enthusiasm for the eclectic. The Quad logo and creative were developed to evoke a sense of the unexpected with a playful and whimsical touch. As one of the quirkier letters of the alphabet, the “Q” becomes a distinctive brand icon and is a perfect starting point for the symbol within The Quad logo.

“Historically, this resort has had a very lively, welcoming appeal and we want to continue to build upon those qualities,” said Tariq Shaukat, chief marketing officer for Caesars Entertainment. “The Quad will be a social and spirited environment where our guests, dressed up or dressed down, will find what they need.”

Caesars Entertainment is working with Las Vegas-based Klai Juba Architects for the exterior and structural renovations, while internationally renowned firm Friedmutter Group is heading up interior design. The interior renovation will complement the new brand’s inviting and whimsical spirit featuring modern décor with rich fabrics, multifaceted textures and contemporary fixtures.

The casino floor will expand an additional 15,000 square feet engulfing the former Imperial Palace porte cochere and a nightclub and gift shop. The first phase of casino renovations will include 35,000 square feet, including the expansion, and is scheduled for completion in the spring of 2013. The second phase will include an additional 30,000 square feet of gaming space with a centralized promenade bar featuring state-of-the-art integrated audio-visual technology. This phase is scheduled for completion in late 2013.

While the original resort’s main entrance was Strip-facing, the main entrance and porte cochere to The Quad will be located on the north side of the building with access via Koval Road or the Harrah’s tunnel off Las Vegas Blvd. A pedestrian walkway, offering a safe pathway for guests on foot,  will make its way from the adjacent Harrah’s Carnaval Court through to the south side of The Quad into The LINQ, Caesars’ $550 million retail, dining and entertainment district slated for opening late next year. Plans also include a dual-sided lobby bar, Starbucks, a retail promenade and a series of restaurants and eateries.

    Construction timeline:
    ·         Phase I: Front desk and bell desk - Complete
    ·         Phase II: Valet entrance/porte cochere – Fall 2012
    ·         Phase III: Casino expansion – Spring 2013
    ·         Phase IV: Completion of casino, lobby bar and front façade – End of 2013

The resort will remain open throughout the duration of the construction period with maximum precaution taken to minimize guest disruption. During the renovation phase, the resort’s most beloved attractions will remain open including Frank Marino’s Divas Las Vegas, The Auto Collections and the ever-popular Hash House A Go Go.
